Bolsover Festival of Brass History.
Bolsover Festival of Brass first launched in 2006 by Carole Crompton who was, at that time, Arts Development Officer for Bolsover District Council. With a passion for the arts and a bandperson herself, Carole decided to create an event to support local bands in the Yorkshire and East Midlands area.
It soon became an International event and welcomes bands from around the UK and Europe.
The event grew quickly and moved from its original venue of Shirebrook Leisure Centre to South Normanton and Pinxton Village Halls simultaneously.
Realising that the event needed greater infrastructure the event was moved to a brand new school in Clowne, Heritage High School where it stayed until 2019.
In 2016 Bolsover Festival of Brass made the creative move to broadcast the event live with the aid of Arts Council England funding. It has broadcast live each year since that time and we are thankful to our “Partner” Warwick Music Group who have sponsored the broadcast since 2018 and take an active role in supporting this event.
